MyRoomie SafeStay: Emergency Accommodation

At MyRoomie, we strive to make a positive impact on our cities and neighborhoods. That's why we're proud to offer a new service to help individuals and families in times of need. Through MyRoomie SafeStay: Emergency Accommodation, we connect property owners who have vacant spaces with those affected by natural disasters, personal hardship or at risk.

Joining MyRoomie SafeStay: Emergency Accommodation is easy. Property owners can indicate their willingness to offer their free space on our site during the listing of an ad (or later) and select the situations in which they would like to offer it. We have created guidelines and criteria that all property owners must follow to ensure the safety and security of all parties involved. In addition, we will require property owners to sign a waiver or agreement indicating that they understand the risks and responsibilities associated with offering their vacant space in these situations.

Analytically:

Natural Disaster

Property owners are willing to offer their extra rooms in situations such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, fires or other natural disasters. In these cases, the property owner should ensure that the spare room is safe and accessible and that any potential hazards (such as broken windows or exposed cables) are addressed before offering the room.

Personal difficulty

Property owners are willing to offer their extra rooms in situations where an individual or family is experiencing a personal crisis or emergency. Examples might include a sudden illness or injury, domestic violence or homelessness. In these cases, the property owner should ensure that the individual or family is in a safe and stable condition before offering the room and should have appropriate resources (such as emergency contacts or medical supplies) available.

Risk to individuals

Property owners are willing to offer their extra rooms in situations where a person is at risk of harm or danger from others. Examples may include situations of domestic violence, stalking or harassment. In these cases, the property owner should take appropriate steps to ensure the person's safety and security, i.e. make sure the person has a safe and private place to stay.

We understand that life can be unpredictable and we are here to help you navigate these difficult situations.

If you are in an emergency situation, contact us using the form you will find here.
